Full Service Veterinary Care for

Dogs, Cats, Pocket Pets & Exotics

Wellness and Illness Care for all ages

Are you adopting a new puppy or kitten?  We cater our wellness care to your pet and your lifestyle with appropriate care during their first year.  It is critical to get them started off on the right foot so they can have a long and happy life.

Adult and Senior Pets also need regular veterinary care to help reduce illness that can lead to costly veterinary visits. For adult pets (1-7 years) we advise at least an annual examination with screening blood testing to establish what is normal for your pet. As your pet ages and becomes a senior (>8 years) we advise twice yearly check ups and annual senior blood and urine testing. As they say an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure and our goal is prevent major health surprises in your pet.  There are many health issues that can be occuring in your pet that you may not be able to detect at home. Let our veterinarians evaluate your pet so that underling health issues can be caught early and treated quickly.

Does your pet seem to drink more water? Have a new lump or sore you are worried about? Acting lethargic or having vomiting and diarrhea? Is your pet itchy or just not acting like themselves? We understand that pets, just like people, can become ill and we are equipped to help you figure out what ails your pet when things are just not as they should be and work hard to help get you the answers your need and the treatments to get your pet on the road to recovery. If your pet has a chronic medical condition, we are able to help you navigate the care they need to ensure the best outcome possible to improve not just your pet's quality of life but also yours.

Pocket Pets and Exotics

At Union Animal Hospital we understand that not all pets are dogs and cats. Our veterinarians also work with various small mammals and enjoy helping our feathered and scaly friends too.

Emergency and Urgent Care

We understand that not all problems can be foreseen that is why each day we have appointment times for same day urgent and emergency care needs. We also offer drop off appointments if our urgent care slots have already filled up or your schedule makes those times less practical. On the rare occurrence we are unable to help you in a timely manner we have great relationships with local emergency clinics to ensure your pet can be seen in a timely manner.  Our goal is, and always will be, to help as many pets and their families each day as we can but at this time, we do not see emergencies or urgent care patients outside of our normal business hours.

Vaccinations

We offer only the safest and most modern vaccines to our patients. Vaccines are based on lifestyle of your pet and current recommendations from the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA) and American Association of Feline Practioners (AAFP). We understand that not all pets require all vaccines and we will only advise vaccines based on need. We wouldn't vaccinate your pet for something we wouldn't give to our own pet.

Do you have a Rabbit? Are you familiar with Rabbit Hemorrhagic Disease? We occasionally offer vaccine clinics to help protect your Rabbit from this fatal disease. If you are interested in being on our contact list for our next vaccine clinic, please call today. The more interested people we have the more frequently we can offer this service.

Medicine and Surgery

With our years of experience and knowledgeable staff we work hard to find what ails your pet.  We strive to provide the highest quality veterinary care but we also do our best to help you find what is best suited option for you and your pet.

Our office is equipped to handle a variety of medical and surgical procedures.  If we are unable to provide the specific surgical or medical care your pet needs, we have a team of local specialists to help. Our goal is to keep your pet well and we will do everything in our power to get them the veterinary care they need. Your pet's care is our top priority.

We also offer a variety of orthopedic services in our hospital.  Cruciate ligament injuries and patella luxation are the most common ailments affecting the knees of our pets and our office is able to offer advanced techniques to correct these problems.  In some cases, our doctors will advise techniques that are best performed by a board certified veterinary surgeon and we can arrange for those repairs if they are deemed necessary.  Our doctors will provide you with an in-depth assessment and options based on your pet's needs.

We also offer affordable, high quality spays and neuters.  Call today for an estimate and you won't be disappointed!

Dental Care and Oral Surgery

Ultrasonic and hand scaling teeth cleaning with full mouth oral polishing combined with digital dental radiography and a comprehensive oral exam by our highly trained and experienced veterinarians is what built our practice and remains an integral part of our daily operations. At Union Animal Hospital ONLY veterinarians complete your pet's oral exam, interpret your pet's dental radiographs, and perform necessary surgical extractions when indicated. We understand that most of our clients expect the veterinarian to perform these services and while our technicians are more than capable and may practices have these procedures done by licensed technicians, we understand the importance of having the veterinarian complete these tasks and that most of our clients expect the veterinarian is performing these procedures. We DO NOT offer anesthesia free dental cleanings as this is deemed unsafe and incomplete as it only creates the illusion of a clean mouth but more advanced evaluations, such as radiographs and subgingival scaling are not feasible.  We understand anesthesia is worrisome for some pet owners but rest assured at Union Animal Hospital anesthesia safety is a top priority.

Imaging Services

Onsite Full Body Digital Radiology, Dental Radiography and ultrasonography for faster results along with our partnerships for referral for advanced imaging such as echocardiograms, Computed Tomography (CT), endoscopy and more ensure your pet gets the care they need when they need it.

In-house Diagnostic Testing

Whether your pet is sick, and we need some information to guide treatment or is having a surgery and needs some pre-anesthetic blood testing our in-house laboratory has you covered.  With Comprehensive in-house lab testing with same day results and comprehensive send out testing for specialized panels.  In order to provide you with the best options we are partnered with multiple veterinary laboratories so that we can offer you the best and most cost-effective lab testing possible. Our in-house equipment is the same equipment used in most specialty hospitals and provides your pets with the most advanced technology for accurate screening.

On site same day testing available includes: pre anesthetic blood testing, blood clotting times, urine testing, cytology, and organ function testing just to name a few.  Some specialized testing such as Phenobarbital levels, thyroid testing, liver function testing, diabetic monitoring, cardiac proBNP testing are also available for some species.

Health Certificates

Do you have to travel with your pet? Are you aware that in most cases a health certificate is required, and these can only be provided by veterinarians with special accreditation through the USDA? At Union Animal Hospital we have the ability to offer this service. Call for details as availability for these appointments can be limited and the process can be long depending on your destination. Check out APHIS PET TRAVEL site for more information about the requirements for interstate travelinternational travel, travel to Hawaii and other US territories. Don't forget to reach out to your airline as well as they may have specific requirements and restrictions for traveling with your pet.

Microchipping

We offer ISO compliant microchipping for your pet's needs. There are no hidden fees with our microchip company. One low fee for the chip/implantation and registration to help ensure if your pet is lost they have the best chance of getting home.

Testimonial

  • "We bring both our girls Ava and Nellie. Our latest visit was due to a limping issue after a visit to a dog park with Nellie (Greyhound and Healer mix). Staff was very kind and gentle with Nellie who is timid with strangers. In the end Nellie thanked both the vet and tech by licking their hands. Great team go see this vet office."

  • "Dr. Sutton and the loving staff at Union Animal Hospital are amazing! They've taken wonderful care of my dog's since they were puppies. We've added 2 more dog's to our pack, a rescue and a re-home, after my Springer passed this spring. Dr. Sutton and here staff are so good with dog's they don't even mind going for their visits. Thanks Doc!"

  • "Union Animal Hospital is the best place! The first time visit was great even during the Pandemic, the techs are wonderful and friendly. Best of all is that they are definitely affordable compared to the rest of the clinics in Spokane."
    Lori J.
  • "The most caring and compassionate animal hospital and veterinary clinic I've found in Spokane. Everyone is so nice and they are outstanding with my 11 year old Pomeranian. I've been searching for a while to find a new Veterinary clinic to take my Pomeranian. I'm so happy to have finally found a place with such caring people whom I can trust to care for my dog and give me all the information I need. They even gave me a print out estimate for everything. They are a bit more expensive than some other places I've researched but with the quality of care they give in my opinion it's well worth the few extra dollars. Thank you guys for treating us so well."
