We always try to help as many pets and pet parents as we can but some days are busier than others due to patient emergencies or urgent needs, staffing shortages or other factors that are out of our control. To help understand why appointments are seen when/why in the order they are, here is a flow chart:
Emergencies (walk in’s or otherwise)
Urgent exams/Appointments Walk in’s that are not urgent.
Emergencies- must be triaged first as they are life-threatening in most cases
Urgent exams- these are high-risk patients in some cases that waiting can be detrimental
Appointments- as they have taken the time to plan and set up for their pet’s evaluations.
Walk in’s that are not urgent- will have to wait until a veterinarian has the time or may have to set up appointments for another day or offer to drop off your pet
Drop off’s- these are patients that are left with us to be seen and they are triaged and then seen in between emergencies, urgent exams, and appointments. Drop-off patients will never have a guaranteed time of being seen or a guarantee of time to go home. We ask that you please plan for your pet to be with us all day. We will do our best to see them timely and address their issues as soon as feasible, much like waiting at the human urgent care.
